Questions, answered.

What is actually paid?

The source of a Professional shader: its WGSL and the generated preset file. There are two kinds of shader here and nothing else: 16 Free ones that hand over their source to anyone, and 61 Professional ones that do not until you have a licence.

Do I need an account to buy?

No. Press Get Gold, pay, and sign in afterwards on the page Polar returns you to — that is where the licence goes onto your account. The account is free, takes one press of a Google button, and is the only one we ask for. It is needed in the end because a licence has to belong to somebody, not because we want it before your money.

Do I need an account to browse and tune?

No, and you never will. The whole catalogue runs, every slider moves, and the URL you tune is shareable, all without signing in. An account is for the files: the WGSL, your preset, a working example and the licence.

How do I use the coupon?

Press Buy now on the Gold card, and on the Polar checkout page enter WEBDESERVESSHADERS in the discount field before you pay. It takes a flat $10 off the $19.99, so you pay $9.99 once. The invoice shows the discount.

I paid, and then closed the tab before signing in.

Nothing is lost. Sign in whenever you like with the same email address you paid with, and the licence finds its way onto that account on its own. If you paid with a different address, email [email protected] with the receipt and it will be put where you want it.

Is anything gated right now?

Yes, and only one thing. A Professional shader still shows its preview and all of its sliders to anyone; the code panel and the download need a plan on a signed-in account.

Can my coding agent use this?

Yes. The CLI is also an MCP server — one add-mcp command connects Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex, and friends. The agent searches the catalogue, reads every control, and vendors source into your project. It is held to the same rule you are: the 16 Free shaders install for anyone, Professional source needs a plan on the signed-in account.

Do I need to know WGSL?

No. The sliders are the interface. The WGSL tab is there for when you want to read it, edit it, or stop depending on us.

Is the preview really running the shader?

Yes. Every canvas on this site is a WebGPU surface compiled by vgpu in your tab. There are no videos and no recordings anywhere in the catalogue.

What happens to shaders I already vendored?

They are files in your repository. They keep working whether or not you renew, and the runtime that draws them is MIT. A lapsed plan stops new downloads, not shipped code.

Which browsers does this need?

WebGPU: Chrome and Edge 113+, Safari 26+, Firefox behind a flag. The component reports an unsupported status so you can render a fallback.
