Eyes
A wall of eyes that look where the pointer goes
A wall of eyes, each a pale almond of sclera around a coloured iris, blinking on its own clock. Move the pointer and every iris turns to follow it. With no pointer they wander, each on its own phase, so the frame is never a grid of dead centres.
Rendering cost: light. A few samples per pixel: fine fullscreen at full pixel ratio, including on integrated graphics. How to tune it
