The layer wiped in over a colour ground

Source

A lone tree standing in a still lake by Jasper van der Meij on Unsplash

The layer wiped in over a flat colour ground: noise dissolves it in speckles, a rotated ramp wipes it in a line, and shape slides between the two. At speed 0 the progress control is a scrubber you can drive from your own code; above 0 it loops on its own.

Rendering cost: light. A few samples per pixel: fine fullscreen at full pixel ratio, including on integrated graphics. How to tune it
